The rainbow of colors that mark Singapore’s Riverfront today are mere glimmers of its richly hued past.  Step back in time with our guide, Charlotte Chu, as she takes us on a vibrant journey along the “lifeline of Singapore.” The waterway that once witnessed the arrival of tea, rice, sugar and spices from afar, has been transformed into one of the most popular hangout place.

Lots of lively characters contributed to the river’s illustrious past.  Learn about intriguing personalities like G.D. Coleman and William Read, after whom bridges spanning the Singapore River are named. We will also visit a clan temple that has been preserved as a national monument.

Did you know that at one time an island could be found in the middle of the river and was part of the first railway line route? While the island may have disappeared (or perhaps not!), many area buildings and bridges remain. Discover where and what they are today as Charlotte leads us through the river’s centuries-old transformation.

Learn about the Feng Shui surrounding some of the riverfront buildings and hear the stories that make the people embodied in the area’s sculptures come to life.

We’ll end our walk at Robertson Quay, the perfect spot to enjoy dinner with friends.

Meeting Point: Cavenagh Bridge, directly in front of the Fullerton Hotel, at the walkway between Maybank Building and Fullerton Hotel. Closest MRT Station Raffles Place.
